Hacienda Alvarado was a meeting point of two mexican history figures: Mr. Agustin de Iturbide on july 1821 and Benito Juárez on july 5th of 1867 (on his way to Mexico City). Hacienda Alvarado was the site of the battle of Sitio de Querétaro on july 1867 chosen as a camp for being strong and “too picturesque” when the northwest army intervened. On 20th century, Hacienda Alvarado was rebuilt preserving the main architecture and texture which it had been built on 1721 and today houses one of the most exclusive restaurants in the “bajio mexicano” (Agency Compilation 365 leaders, from the following sources: Haciendas de Querétaro, Dr. Jaime Zúñiga Burgos, 2017; Escritos de Querétaro, Valentín Frías (Edited by the State Government), 1997; Society and Politics in Querétaro, Fondo de Cultura Económica, 1997). On 1995 emerges Hacienda Los Laureles Restaurant being until today the biggest local representant and in the mexican cuisine tourism, within its main dishes, the exquisite “carnitas”, the delicious beef tail on morita sauce and a huge variety of soups and seasonal dishes like chile en nogada, escamoles and special chefs creations. Everything livens up by our mariachi “Sangre Mexicana” starting at 4 o clock the whole week. At Hacienda Los Laureles, graduations, XV years parties, baptisms and the prettiest and elegant weddings of Queretaro are held in our beautiful garden, framed by an artificial lake; the capacity of the garden is up to 400 people. On February 2014 emerges Bar Los Laureles, one of the most beautiful in Queretaro that shows the fusion between modern and the historical style.
